A Sailor, a Squirrel and a Dog

After Natalie's nap on Sunday (still in her church dress) she woke up with the curliest sweat induced hair. I couldn't help but take this opportunity for a little photo shoot. We went in the back yard to play with Nixon - and her little squirrel friend.

She loves it when we play with this squirrel, moving it just right to make it seem alive. She is even a little afraid of it when she first sees it - pointing at it and making noises in order to alert us of the wild animal in our house.

Here she is trying to give it to me so I would play with her. Little did she know that my hands were glued to the camera and unavailable for playtime. I'm so mean, seriously!

So she did the next best thing, she teased Nixon with it. This squirrel happens to be one of Nixon's favorite toys, too.

Funny face. Love it!

Dimples. Love them even more!

This photo is worth a million dollars. Natalie finally has Nixon where she wants him. Standing still in front of her. Not running for his life. He obviously doesn't realize that he's within petting distance from Natalie, but only because his eyes are fixed on the prize.

Does Natalie give in? Nope. She goes to the chair we usually have the squirrel climb. So cute. I LOVE watching her play by herself - using her imagination!

I had a little fun with this picture in iPhoto. It's no photoshop quality effect, but I thought it kind of made the picture look somewhat old fashioned.

After I ran out of space on my camera to take pictures, I decided that Natalie deserved a little play time with her mommy. I do play with her...right before I eat her up!

Isn't it amazing how they can just play by themselves and role-play? Sometimes we'll catch Hayden just talking with himself (for his toys) and it's the funniest thing. You have such a little cutie on your hands - keep taking those pictures! :)

So cute! That is why, even as hard as parenting is, people have more....there is just a unsatiable desire to fill your life with these great moments! It is addicting and never gets boring. Who wants to limit these experiences?
