Halloween 2008 - A Little Late!

Long overdue - my Halloween post.

A few days before Halloween, Grandma (Sally) came by with a big plastic storage tub full of Halloween costumes she had sewn for her kids. We had a blast looking through them along with a big envelope full of pictures of the kids wearing the costumes. Natalie definitely wasn't as excited as I was to have all of these costumes to choose from. Of course, I wanted her to try on every one that was her size, and of course, she didn't want to. Finally a day or two later I convinced her to try on this pumpkin costume. She was happy for the first few seconds she had it on and then lost it when I took out the camera to document how cute she was. This photo is of her actually swatting the camera. I didn't take any after that. She's silly - or am I?

Fortunately on Halloween night as the Trick-or-Treaters were coming to the door, she FINALLY realized how fun it was to dress up and excitedly (her choice of costume) put on the Batman costume. Yeah! I'm glad she picked it. Mike LOVED this costume and wore it several years. In fact, I need to get the pics of him wearing it from Sally so I can show you how stinkin' cute he was! Of course, Natalie was stinkin' cute, too! :)

So proud - she dressed herself. The costume was a little big. We had to safety pin the shorts in the back to make them stay up - which also means she can wear this costume for a few more years if she wants!

She's showing off the cape. I think her eyes really show how cool she is in this Bat Girl costume!

After getting dressed and out the door, we went to Lee's house/block party. Alisa and Ashleigh beat us there. We quickly said our Hello's and then hit the road for some sugar - Ashleigh came with us.

She's a natural (beggar?).

Could Ashleigh look any cuter, I mean cooler? She's one of the characters on "High School Musical". Sorry I don't remember the character's name. I think I'll now be stoned by all the HSM lovers out there.

The LOOT!

One of Natalie's recent TV addictions is "LazyTown". This girl is dressed up as "Stephanie" from that show. Natalie loves that character and I think she really thought that this girl was actually her. Natalie basically chased her down, calling her name over and over again trying to get her attention. Finally I helped Natalie out and asked this girl if we could take this picture. I bet that girl thought we are weird. So what! Look how happy Natalie was!

Before we left I took a few photos of the family. Mandy is always dressed up in a cute costume. Too bad Mike, Alisa, and I didn't dress up at all.

I grabbed a quick shot of Lee as he was on his way out to play at a party that night. His band is awesome!

Oh wait, that's right, Alisa doesn't normally look like this! Haha! She did the "I just woke up" costume again and really played up the dark circles under her eyes.

After Lee's we went to Mike's parent's house. Just as we pulled up to the house, Mike's Grandma also pulled up and when she got out of the car I actually didn't recognize her! She had a great costume on. She's too fun.

Natalie continued to hit people up for candy. Thanks Grandma for sharing!

Natalie's cousin Lucas. He makes a pretty cute Monkey!

Natalie is half naked (really just the way she likes to be) because she was playing with and eating frosting. I usually de-robe her when she's wearing something that I don't want ruined. Anyway, I had to include this picture because she was so happy to take it with her cousin.

Nick's Chihuahua Moose in her "Greatest American Hero" costume that Sally made for her a few years ago. Pretty dang cute! Sally really is a talented seamstress.

For fun that night we decorated sugar cookies. Mine was yummy!

Okay, so I did kind of have a costume. I dressed up my toe as a Mummy. I'm so creative... or something.

And just in case you wanted another peak of the hamburger toe! This picture was taken Halloween night. It looks different now - not much better, just different. (Please ignore the horrid paint job on my toes. I know I am in desperate need of a pedicure.)

I did NOT have to see that again (your toe) but it was great to see Natalie and Alisa and Ashleigh, (because she never posts pictures! Ahem, hint, hint.) But where was Spencer or Lee and Mandy's other kids? I love the costume hand-me-down! I hope that my grandkids will want to wear some of the costumes I've made for my kids!

What a treasure to have all those adorable costumes. Lucky you. They are the best kind.
Aren't holidays so much more fun with kids??
The monkey was sweet too.

This post made me so happy. Natalie looked like such a sassy Bat Girl, and thank you for posting a picture of Lucas! And I cracked up at Mike's Grandma's costume. She has always been so much fun :)

Glad your to is "different" and hopefully getting better!

I LOVE that she wore one of Mike's old costumes made by his mom. It couldn't be more perfect. What a fun family you have. We'll excuse the need for a pedicure for now....your toe is hideous!! Nice job dressing it up.
