It was an absolutely beautiful day to play outside today. Natalie, her cousin Easton and friend Gage had a great time out front riding a skateboard and longboard down our driveway into the cul-de-sac.
Don't be fooled, although she looks pretty brave here she quickly puts her feet down to stop herself.

Doesn't she look like a little surfer in training?

Easton and Gage had a blast riding the longboard down together - they weren't at all afraid!

I think Natalie wanted to join in on the fun of riding down all together...

..so my mom put them all on there together and gave them a big push - just kidding - she just let go and they went flying down the driveway...

...and ended up all the way across the cul-de-sac by the neighbors driveway.

Then I asked my mom to take a picture of Natalie and me riding down together (a rare occasion to have a picture of us together). It was so fun! In fact, I want to get out there and do it again right now.

After skateboarding to their heart's content, they went to play in the little retention area next to my house. It's a great place for the imagination to run wild! Gage and Easton were pretending that they were "exploring the desert" (wait, they really were!) and were "trying to catch the wolf (Nixon) that was howling at the bats (birds) in the trees." While this was going on, little Natalie was stuck on the small incline, slipped and then called out for help. Gage and Easton ran as fast as they could to "save" her...

...and then quickly ran back to their "wolf".

Meanwhile, my mom and I were watching the story unfold while sitting on this nice big rock. Behind her is the cul-de-sac that the kids ride through, with my house to the right.

The kids finally had enough of the wild desert and were on their way back to the house when I noticed Natalie wasn't in sight. I saw her ahead of us but then lost track of her. I quickly went to where I could see the front door of the house and found Natalie coming out with her "sports candy" (an apple) so she could have energy to continue playing. I can't believe she is big enough to open the front door, open the fridge, get out an apple, close the fridge (the most important part!) and come back outside to eat it. She's getting so big.

Warm Arizona winters are the best!

Man! I will say, that Natalie of yours is ONE CUUUUUTIE! I love her on her tummy on the skateboard with her skater hat and braided pigtails. AHHHH SO FUN! I NEED A GIRL!
Too fun, we have a really steep driveway and in the summer the kids do that too. I love that an apple is sports candy I am going to use that with my kids.
That is such a good post. You do such a great job of catching all those priceless pictures. I also love the one of Natalie on her tummy. She's such a skater/surfer girl. And how cute that she is completely keeping up with the boys. I'm glad they were nice to her and "rescued" her when she fell. You are such a good mom and so good to Gage. That's why he wants to live you with guys!!
Oh, I forgot to say that I am totally impressed with how she let herself in to get sports candy out of the fridge all by herself. But, I'm not surprised...she is so smart and coordinated. It's really easy to forget that she's only 2!!
Two pictures I totally love: the surfer girl one (too cute!) and the one of you and Natalie together. I love seeing that because I know how hard it is to get a shot with your kids since you're usually the photographer.
Looks like it was a really fun day! What cute pictures! I am jealous! I am also about to cry...so many cousins so far away. That sucks! Seriously.
Max would be so proud of the skateboarding, even if they're not standing. If you can't go sledding in the snow....just use a skateboard.
You are soooo good to Easton. He has so much fun with you! THANKS!!! I love the pictures!
