Thanks to Alisa, we were able to organize a family field trip to see Zoo Lights at the Phoenix Zoo on Wednesday. Alisa, Spencer, Ashleigh, Lee, Amanda, Madison, Adam, Seth, Becca, Lucas, Natalie and I all went - not a bad way to spend a beautiful Wednesday night!
Upon arriving to the zoo, our first stop before venturing out into the park to experience Zoo Lights was at Stingray Bay. It is a huge round pond with, what we think, a current to keep the stingrays constantly moving . The kids all took a turn touching them as they swam by.
Here's Madison finally getting the courage to stick her hand in the pond.
After the sting rays we thought we'd start our walk to see the lights, however the boys wanted to ride the merry-go-round! Seriously, it was Spencer and Adams idea...not the girls! I quickly jumped on board so I could document this event on film.It wasn't until after the merry-go-round that Natalie decided to wake up and join the party. Unfortunately for her, our trip to the zoo was exactly when she likes to go to sleep for the night. Rarely does this happen, but I was really glad she woke up... after all I was doing this for her!
Here's the first "cool" tree we saw. Most of the lights they used were the regular "boring" lights, but this one had the new LED lights. Way cooler!
Around the corner from the tree was an area lit up with a black light. We thought we'd have a little fun making ourselves look scary with yellow eyes and teeth. Obviously I was the only one who really wanted to "look scary"!!! I'll probably regret posting this beautiful photo of myself.
Just taking a break...
Quick, pose for a picture before Natalie wants to get down....too late!
After the lights, we stopped to check out the gift shop. Funny thing, we think the kids liked the gift shop more than the lights...they spent at least a 1/2 hour looking around!
Here's Natalie telling me to look at what she found.
She wouldn't get any closer to the giraffe than this. Cute!
While I was looking at cute stuffed giraffes with Natalie, Seth was showing Lucas other "cute" items for sale....poor Lucas! We finally got all the kids to come out of the gift shop so we could go home. Natalie was pretty excited, once again, to drive. Here she is carefully backing the car out of the parking space. She is getting so good at it now!!
Well, it was actually a really fun activity for all of us. It was great to have Lee take the kids, too. What a sport! Unfortunately Mike had to study so he wasn't able to join us. Once Lee found out that Mike wasn't going, he mentioned that he might go to law school so he can get out of things like this, too! Hahaha!

Really fun night! Wish I could have gone, too! It's pretty crazy that so much of my family is in Arizona!
Oh, and remember a long time ago making "ugly" faces with Jake, except he couldn't look ugly and we could? Just remembering....
I love my ability to pull crazy ugly faces! Hahaha! No one else can do it quite as well as I can. However, it makes me wonder what faces I "accidentally" pull without knowing it.
That looked like SO much fun. Denver Zoo starts their Zoo Lights soon and I plan to go--I'm so terribly jealous you guys did it without putting on about 18 layers just to stay warm!
Love the pic of her driving!
Hey, I'm saying I have that great ability, too! It's freaking fantastic!
ADORABLE! Oh and I'll be working at the MAC inside the new Dillards at the new San Tan mall. I should start by Monday the 26th! Comein and I'll do ya up!
