December Adventures

The past couple of weeks have been full of adventure! A wedding, a birth, a leaking roof, a cold, deadlines to be met at work, and then Christmas! Here's a summary of the events. Sorry I've been so slow to post updates. Looks like I have a "New Year's Resolution" to be made.

To start off with, my mom arrived on December 14th, a few days before Kylee's wedding, so she could help and hang out! It was so fun to have "Grand-mommy" stay at our house. The night she came Natalie convinced us both to join her in her "princess hut". My mom was a good sport and climbed right in! That night she slept on my couch and the next morning Natalie woke up and asked, "Is Grandmommy sleeping on the couch? Let's go see her!"

Tuesday night was the wedding rehearsal/birthday party for Kylee. It rained all day, and just before we left to go to the rehearsal I found Natalie playing with the water running down the INSIDE of her bedroom window. It wasn't flowing fast so I put a towel down on the windowsill and left. Mike was at school finishing his LAST final of the semester (YIPPIE-FREAKING-KAI-YAY) and when he arrived at the house he walked into soaking wet towels and a pretty big leak. Mike climbed into the attic and found our new best friend - a small hole in the roof. Behold the damage - not too bad, but still a major problem to take care of.

Paint trays worked pretty well to catch the rain.

After a day full of cold rain, the weather couldn't have been more beautiful for Kylee's wedding. I now have the honor to present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Brenan Jiran. What a beautiful couple! I'm so happy for them.

Kylee is my oldest brother Lee and his wife Mandy's first daughter. Kylee is also the first grandchild in my family, and the first baby to make me an Aunt. I can't believe she is married now. And to think that she dated Brenan in high school, influenced him enough to investigate the church, watch him get baptized in September 2007 and then go through the temple with him in November 2008. He is awesome. I always knew he was "special" (sorry for the word "special" but I couldn't think of a better one). Kylee is obviously awesome, too!

The day after the wedding my parents and sister Amy flew back up to Utah. Kristina, my youngest sister, stayed here to prep for her move to Arizona. She will be graduating as an RN in February and the day after she starts a job at the Phoenix Childrens Hospital in the Oncology division. There couldn't be a better suited job for her - it's exactly what she's always wanted to do, to work with children with cancer. She couldn't be happier. Natalie and I are excited, too, to have her little boys, Cadence and Easton, live closer to us. And to think that in just a little over a month, there will be more Aidukaitis's living in Arizona than in Utah!

This is Cadence playing me in Chess. I barely won. He's pretty good!

Here are Natalie and Easton painting - one of Natalie's favorite activities.

To add excitement to Kylee's wedding day, Nick, Mike's brother, became a proud father of a beautiful and BIG boy named Rilus James (8 lbs. 8 oz.). Here's a photo of us outside the hospital room. They won't let kiddos in right now so Mike's mom watched Natalie while we visited the new family.

It's a lot of work being the oldest of 4 grandkids but Natalie does a pretty good job of keeping everyone under control. Can't you just see how bossy she is! :)

Kristina went back to Utah a few days later and before she and her kids left we took them to our favorite duck pond. The kids loved it and didn't want to go back home. We didn't want them to leave either. Can't wait until they live here!

Hopefully I'll be able to get my Christmas post out soon. I can't wait to brag about my Christmas gift this year and also share how much Natalie loved Christmas! Santa was good to us!

Thanks for updating :-)

Congrats to the happy new parents!

Congrats to Christina on her job. That is huge--and admirable, too!

What a cute family. And what an eventful month. I'm glad Kylee had such a big turnout from the family for her wedding--Love her dress! Sometimes I wish we lived closer so we wouldn't miss so much, but that goes both ways. We'll just keep living the happy life of a nomad and see where that takes us next. Glad you had a happy Christmas. Have a great 2009 too!

Wow Karla! I feel tired after reading about all that you had going on last month! What fun times - though. Ok, did you get a new camera for Christmas? Do tell what you got!

okay. I officially feel really old now. Lee & I were in accounting class together in high school. Are we really old enough to have kids getting married??!!
