We had an amazing storm roll in last night. I haven't seen anything like it before! Of course it came with a lot of rain - typical Monsoon showers that pour buckets of rain at a time. Gilbert recorded 1.14" approximately 2 hours into the storm. But this storm also came with a TON of lightening and thunder. When I say a TON, I specifically mean over 10,000 lightening strikes were recorded in ONE hour. It was absolutely amazing! I hope those of you who live here were able to watch it.
Here's a clip of one news station reporting on the storm as it was happening.
Here is what I recorded with my camera. I spent at least an hour out there recording the sky. A lot of the time it wasn't even raining (just sprinkling) so I was able to put my big patio chair out on the lawn and just stare up at the sky. I have a ton of video. Unfortunately a lot of it is several minutes long and is having a hard time uploading to the blog. I'll keep working on it and will continue to add footage as I am able. Until then, enjoy what I have so far.
This one only has a few at the end. Not that good. I'll probably remove it once I get more uploaded for you to see.
A quick (3 seconds) of a lightening strike.

This isn't my video, but I found it on YouTube when I was uploading mine. It shows the sky better than mine - with the constant light flashes. So COOL!

People keep emailing me/texting me about the storm last night. It makes me so homesick! Those videos are awesome - looks like so much fun. Thanks for posting them - it gives me a little taste of home.
Very kewl. Ashleigh was worried about you guys during that storm. We didn't get ANYTHING that night. Crazy I know. But we did get it last night. 24 hrs later, better late then never!
You are pretty brave to sit outside during that storm!! Remember Erik sitting on the roof of our house watching one? I was SO SCARED for him, but they really are fun to watch!
That is so cool! I love thunder storms!
I miss the lightening and the big summer storms! Thank you for sharing!
