Oceanside - Days 6 & 7

WEDNESDAY:

While I was getting ready this morning Natalie and Lucas watched movies on a little portable DVD player we have. I highly recommend a portable DVD player. It's the perfect babysitter when you have to do something that isn't near a TV to keep the kiddos entertained. Anyway, we were supposed to go to LEGOLAND this morning but not long after I took this picture Natalie started acting sick.

In fact, Natalie soon fell asleep and stayed asleep for just under 3 hours. While she slept everyone decided to nix the LEGOLAND plans and went to Pacific Beach instead to walk around and shop. Although I was bummed to miss out on the outing, it was nice to have a quiet house with a sleeping baby allowing me to sit in the huge bay window that overlooks the beach and ocean and BLOGHOP among other things - like mess around with my camera settings. It was really nice.

When Natalie woke up, I took her to the beach all bundled up to shovel some sand (her new favorite activity). On our way to a good sand shoveling spot we ran into this cute little turtle.

We also ran into this guy. Natalie now knows what a surfer is and looks out the big bay windows and says "surfers" as she waves her arms back and forth pointing at them. So cute!

Once we were done shoveling sand - and trying to explain to Natalie that she couldn't go in the ocean because she didn't have her swimsuit on - we came back up to the condo and picked up my longboard for a little ride to the playground/park. Natalie sat in the middle of the board and I sat behind her and pushed us both to the park with my hands! I'm sure we looked so cool. I think everyone we passed was jealous and wanted a ride. Natalie was not willing to give up her seat, though. She's so selfish sometimes!

After we got home I realized that Natalie really wasn't feeling good after this little episode. We were sitting down for a Lasagna dinner and when Natalie saw it, she thought it was Gnocchi - her favorite food - and when she realized it wasn't she started to cry, repeating gnocchi over and over again. I told her we didn't have any gnocchi and she told me to "Go get it." Duh, what was I thinking! So I called Sally, who just so happened to be out of the house to see if she could stop by Trader Joe's to pick some up. Once again, Grandma saved the day!

THURSDAY:

After a relatively good night of sleep, Natalie was still feeling under the weather but I refused to let her rest! Just kidding. I really wasn't sure if she was not feeling well or if she was just tired (it was around her nap time) so we went with Sally, Becca and Lucas to Sea Port Village in San Diego. We had a good time! It was obvious that Natalie actually wasn't feeling well after we arrived, but Tylenol masked her pain and allowed her to enjoy the afternoon.

After our little trip and on our way to the airport to pick up Seth (Becca's hubby), it was really obvious that Natalie wasn't doing well so we had Christa (back at the condo) Google urgent care facilities in the area so we could stop by one on our way home. At the doctor visit we found out that Natalie has a sore throat and ears, both of which the doctor didn't feel were really that serious looking. So, like a good doctor, he prescribed her some antibiotics and sent us on our way. Normally I'd be hesitant to give the antibiotics to her but her fever has consistently been around 101 degrees and I'm just praying that they will help!

***Anyone know of anything going around that Natalie might have picked up? It's hard to know for sure but I think she has had a headache along with all the other symptoms I've mentioned.***

Well, I better get back up to the room to watch my baby sleep. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day and that antibiotics are the cure!

I hope Natalie is feeling better soon... what a bummer. But like a good mom you're making sure she still has fun. Sometimes you have to make them suck it up! :) And ahh Natalie - a girl after my own heart. I am obsessed with gnocchi. Tell Becca hello for me!
